We just installed new 9620 and 9630 IP phones.

I have a couple of phones that were wokring fine then.. poof...
on the display it sayes discover and the IP address.

I have reset the phones still comes back to the same screen
Discover and the IP address of the CLAN of the PBX

Are these done for it or is there a way out of this..so I can get them to work again.

    Thanks

    MJ

I am posting this under a different forum telephones and users to see if I get any different responses

I received this solution from another user

    Thanks Alfred ...

It seems that the phones are caching their old ip address in the phone memory. Problably you have also a limited DHCP lease duration. After I set the lease duration for the phones VLAN to unlimited and clearing the memory values of the phones my problem was solved.

    To clear the memory values:
    MUTE CLEAR #
or through the CRAFT functions clear:
    MUTE CRAFT #

    (Press MUTE for about 2s)

This happened at one of my recent installs. The phones would be fine until restarted and then "discovering". I ended up having to restart the 8300 to get the phones to register back. Hope this was a fluke....

Did anyone get a fix to this? I have this happening almost daily for some reason and the only fix is to reboot our 8300

Since this is not a common issue I doubt that it is the S8300 itself.. for whatever reason the registration is being terminated.. there are several network related issues that could result in this behaviour... I recommend running a list trace ras on a station for an entire day.. watch what happens...

Our users log out of their phones at night (as in the extension). It's only when they try and log back in (usually the next day, but not always) that they get the discover issue.
When I run a "list trace ras" on an unregistered station I see the registration request (GRQ) then a Reject message straight away (RIP) from the 8300. There is nothing in the events log to indicate why the handset is being rejected, and nothing on the network has changed (no firewalls with session timeouts etc.)
18:43:25 rcv GRQ endpt 192.168.45.10:49301 switch 192.168.45.1:1719 ext
18:43:25 snd RIP endpt 192.168.45.10:49301 switch 192.168.45.1:1719 ext
18:43:38 rcv GRQ endpt 192.168.45.10:49301 switch 192.168.45.1:1719 ext
18:43:38 snd RIP endpt 192.168.45.10:49301 switch 192.168.45.1:1719 ext
18:43:51 rcv GRQ endpt 192.168.45.10:49301 switch 192.168.45.1:1719 ext
18:43:51 snd RIP endpt 192.168.45.10:49301 switch 192.168.45.1:1719 ext
I have just recently noticed that ip-network-map does not reference these particular phones at all (not that it should matter if they are registering to the PE in the correct network region), so I've added them in and the issue hasn't reoccurred. I will wait and see what happens this week.
Edit: The issue is still occurring. It looks like it is extension related rather than station related

RIP is not a rejection message. It stands for Registration In Progress.
If the particular subnet was not in a network region, then the phones should have taken the network region of the CLAN or PE they registered to.

Thanks Rusty. It looks like the issue is a known bug in 3.1.4. The latest build has a fix for it which I rolled out tonight- fingers crossed
